Blackberry’s (BB) instant messaging application commonly known as BBM, is one of the main reasons why Blackberry phones are so popular especially among young people. Like the mobile instant message service
Mxit
, it allows users to simultaneously send multiple messages to many contacts. BBM is so much better than Mxit because it gives you amazing features you need to express yourself your way. Features include:
Speak your mind – send and receive messages with unlimited characters.
Personalize it – choose your own display picture.
Know it’s delivered – get confirmations when messages are delivered and read.
Say it with pictures – share videos and photos with multiple contacts.
Share with your friends – this can be done by adding the special BBM pin and barcode.
Share what you’re listening to – you can reveal the music playing on your BB.
I love communicating via BBM but I still buy lots of SMS bundles to chat to my friends and family who do not own Blackberry smart phones. I’m sure some of you can relate to this. Wouldn’t it be awesome to chat to friends and family who own other smart phones using BBM? I know for a fact that I’d be saving a lot of money spent on sms bundles.
Well, rumour has it that RIM wants to bring its
BBM app to Android and iOS. Details surrounding timing and pricing have not yet been finalized but it seems that this project will be launched some time in this year.
Don’t you think it’s a bit strange that RIM wants to share the one thing that makes Blackberry unique? Well I’m not complaining. If all smart phones had access to BBM all of us would be saving A LOT of air time.
