that next presentation

If like me, you’re faced with having to do presentations all the time, be it to sell your services to prospective clients, as a guest speaker at a conference or presenting a workshop of sorts, then you probably always think of ways to improve your presentation skills.
If you attend conferences and listen to others doing bad presentations, you probably also wonder how they got to be invited to present in the first place.
Well, the solution is here: Presentation Zen!
By utlising the true power of the net and its connectivity I got to find out about it. In an article in BizCommunity, Jon Bishop spoke about pod casting.
One of the podcasts he mentioned was Twistimage’s Six Pixels of Separation. Having finally decided to start listening to podcasts on those 4 Cpt/Jhb/Cpt flights every month, I learned of Presentation Zen and the author Garr Reynolds who wrote a book about the Zen of presentation.
The 42 minute telephone interview podcast was enough for me to want to get the book.
See Amazon for the details.

SOUTH AFRICA’S FASTEST GROWING WEBSITES

The latest Nielsen Online ratings for SA web sites has just been released.
The 5 Fastest Growing South African Websites from Mar 2007 – Mar 2008 are:

  1. Engineering News, 190% growth in UB
  2. Mining Weekly, 156%
  3. Carte Blanche, 124%
  4. Polity, 121%
  5. Mineweb, 115%

Very interesting to note is that numbers 1, 2 & 4 above are all in the Creamer Media stable.
What exactly is responsible for this growth is of course debatable, but the worldwide surge in resource prices must surely be a factor in 3 of the top 5.
According to the report, the overall market has grown by 44% in the same period from 3.4 million to 4.9 million UBs.
With the exclusion of Supersport at number 6 with a 103% growth, none of the big sites feature in the top 10 fastest growing sites.
Once again this points to the fact that it is important to take note that when you launch an online media campaign that you focus on where your target markets are congregating and not just where the large numbers are.
The top 3 most popular SA websites over during March 2008 are:

  1. News24: 1,127,796 UB for March 2008
  2. MSN: 747,371
  3. Mweb: 618,133
